Launching European Innovation Dialogue Platform
As a European and consensus-based open structure, the European Innovation Dialogue (EID) serves as a European Platform for community and commitment building, development of best practices and dissemination activities. Its scope spans the full spectrum of requirements and issues that are relevant to the innovation ecosystem and its actors. Main objective is to create an environment that encourages innovation.
The European Innovation Dialogue network develops to become the representative network voicing the concerns of the ‘innovation sector’ at the European level and engaging in debate with European policy makers. More generally its activities are twofold. One focus is on the economic and political environment covering the entire innovation cycle from research to market, the other is on the 'real life' needs of innovation actors.
There is agreement that Europe is not lacking of good ideas but that one of its weak points is the transfer of knowledge into profitable and growing businesses. Despite the fact that innovation is taking place locally, activities at and from the European level have the potential to generate additional value.
VALUE PROPOSITION STATEMENT
Less barriers, an improved support system and closer links among the innovation stakeholders resulting in more and better innovation
Process and Timeframe to establish the EID Platform
The process of setting up the EID is organised in three phases:
* The preparatory phase during the first half 2007 is best described by establishing and consultation activities necessary to lay the foundations for the organisation.
The first meeting of the EID Interest Group (EID IG) will take place in the month of February 2007 in Brussels and take into account the results from the present consultation.
* Following the formal launch of the platform planned for June 2007, the foundation phase during the second half 2007 is designed to serve as the legal platform for the finalisation of the many aspects of the EID. In this phase, the EID will operate as a legal entity and make contractual binding agreements.
* The operation phase represents the normal operation of the EID following its formal establishment and once the working groups have been put in place.
