Retrieving bio-physical and geo-physical parameters from SAR data

A workshop on retrieving bio-physical and geo-physical parameters from SAR data for land applications will be held in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, from 21 to 23 October 1998. It will be organised by the European Space Agency and will discuss the latest uses of SAR data in relation to land applications covering soil, hydrology, agriculture, forests and snow.

Key questions to addressed during the conference will include:

- Can data retrieval be performed with spaceborne and airborne SAR data and if so are existing sensor coverage and data availability sufficient?
- What radar characteristics are required to retrieve the desired information?
- What retrieval tools are still missing in order to obtain the desired information?
- What other remote sensing data are required for a synergy-based retrieval.
