A one-day seminar to highlight the opportunities within the upcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme for those engaged in research and development activities in the water and related environmental sectors will be held in London, United kingdom, on 5 November 1998. The seminar will be organised by the British Foundation for Water Research, in cooperation with TECHWARE, the Association for Technology for Water Resources.

The morning session of the seminar will present the background to the development of the Fifth Framework Programme, the Key Actions and priorities in the water-environment sector, the components of the Programme of most interest to this sector, and the objectives and benefits of research at European level, from a public sector viewpoint.

The afternoon session will feature guidance from experts on the practicalities of organising and submitting a proposal for funding under the Fifth Framework Programme. Case studies of successful proposals within the previous Framework Programme, such as the EUROTAS and CADAM projects, will enable participants to gain first hand experience of what constitutes a viable proposal. Information on the relevant databases which can be accessed to facilitate proposals and on the key factors for achieving successful bids will also be presented.

The seminar will end with a question and answer session hosted by a panel of the speakers from the seminar.
