Presenting the Fifth RTD Framework Programme

A conference devoted to the presentation of the new thematic programmes of the upcoming Fifth RTD Framework Programme will be held in Grenoble, France, on 12 and 13 November 1998. The conference, which is targeted at both academic and industrial researchers, will also feature presentations from representatives of the European Commission.

The conference will present the thematic programmes:

- Quality of Life and Living Resources;
- User-friendly Information Society;
- Competitive and Sustainable Growth;
- Preserving the Ecosystem.

Two of the horizontal programmes will also be discussed:

- Innovation and Participation of SMEs;
- Improving the Human Research Potential and the Socio-economic Knowledge Base.

In addition, the COST initiative for European cooperation in the field of scientific research will be presented during the conference. Support structures, which exist at European and national level, to assist with the planning and preparation of European research projects will also be presented.
