A conference on recent developments in the World Wide Web technology addressing "The future and European industrial experience" will be held in London, United Kingdom, on 8 December 1998, as part of the ESPRIT Leveraging Action W3C-LA. The aim of the event is to update developers and managers on recent and forthcoming changes in Web technology, coupled with reports of European industrial experience with these new technologies. Discussions will also consider the planning implications of these changes.
The following topics will be addressed during the plenary sessions of the conference, supported by a set of demonstrations:
- Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) update;
- XML and the engineering industry;
- XML in news and financial information;
- RDF: the Resource Description Framework;
- RDF in digital libraries;
- Vector graphics on the Web;
- SMIL: Multimedia on the Web;
- Television on the Web.
