A series of conferences on the latest developments in telecommunications technology will take place between January and April next year.

- DECT'99, to be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 26 to 28 January 1999, discussing issues related to DECT technology, and the functioning of DECT as a standard and an open standardised system. The application and performance of DECT all over the world will be presented by those using DECT technology and the DECT cordless technology for both residential and business segments and mobility;

- A conference dedicated to unified messaging systems will be held in London, UK, from 27 to 29 January 1999. The event will focus on their application for the simplification and expansion of the communications infrastructure to increase business advantage. Questions to be addressed include the objectives of unified messaging and how it has matured, as well as the resultant benefits for business. The aim is to teach participants the process for the selection of a system and to provide them with clear guidelines on choosing the proper system;

- PAGING'99, the annual congress of the European Public Paging Association, will be held in Cannes, France, from 1 to 3 March 1999. The event will address a wide range of issues related to opportunities and challenges in the paging market, as well as issues related to investment, adding value to networks and the future of paging;

- MOBILE Internet '99, the fourth annual conference on exploiting the business potential of mobile Internet and information services, will be held in London, UK, from 14 to 16 April 1999. Discussions will focus on aspects such as services and applications, billing, pricing and customer service issues and the optimisation of future networks for Internet services.
