Sleeping Beauties - Dormancy and resistance in harsh environments - Molecular, proteomic and metabolomic aspects

Information about the Sleeping Beauties Workshop will be available on the following website:
www.gmm.gu.se/SB. The deadline for submission of abstracts and early registration will be
March 15, 2008. The Scientific program will include three plenary speakers as well as a
number of invited speakers. Several presentations will be selected by session organizers from
the submitted abstracts.

We have the honor to invite you on behalf of the Organizing committee to the Sleeping
Beauties Workshop that will be held at the Harnack House, Max Planck Institute, Dahlem-
Berlin, Germany, from May 18 to May 21, 2008.
Information about the Sleeping Beauties Workshop will be available on the following website:
www. gmm.gu.se/SB . The deadline for submission of abstracts and early registration will be
March 15, 2008. The Scientific program will include three plenary speakers as well as a
number of invited speakers. Several presentations will be selected by session organizers from
the submitted abstracts.

The meeting will include the following scientific sessions:

• Dormant forms- entry into dormancy
• Quiescence and hibernation
• Survival in harsh and extreme environments
• LEA proteins and their association with dormant forms
• Ecological aspects of dormancy
• Germination and exit from dormancy
• Round table discussion: From dormancy to cell preservation
One poster session is planned on various aspects of dormancy. Two prizes (400 Euro and 200
Euro) will be given for best student poster presentations.

The workshop will be limited to ~90 participants.
Peer reviewed symposium papers will be published in a book and manuscripts should be
submitted by Sept 1, 2008. Full information and instructions will appear soon on the website.
