11 March 2008 - 12 March 2008

The AMAA is a unique annual event that brings together leading companies from the automotive value chain and researchers from top academic institutions. The focus is on both technological issues and applications of next generation "smart" micro systems for the vehicle.

This year´s conference will cover novel sensors including one based on the giant magneto resistance, several camera and radar systems making road traffic safer by assisting the driver in recognizing pedestrians and obstacles, and human-machine interfaces based on hand gesture recognition. A special session will be dedicated to smart systems, addressing advanced technologies like a tire monitoring system comprising an energy-harvesting device, and other innovative solution for sustainable and convenient road transport.

Furthermore, there will be reports by two teams that participated in the DARPA Grand Challenge 2007 "the Urban Challenge", Team Lux and the (winning) Tartan Racing Team.

As in the years before, contributions to the AMAA will be made available just in time before the conference in a book published with Springer. Participants will receive a free copy.
