UK Research Office (UKRO) Annual Conference 2008

UKRO is pleased to announce that registration for the 2008 Annual Conference, which will take place at Loughborough University on 26 and 27 June, is now open. The Conference will include sessions on Framework Programme 7, as well as on a number of other, non-Framework Programme areas.

26 Juin 2008 - 27 Juin 2008
United Kingdom
Following the launch of FP7 in 2007, the focus will be on implementation issues, focusing on the first year of calls and lessons learned, as well as looking ahead to future calls. Sessions are planned on Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), Science in Society (SiS), Research Infrastructures, the Marie Curie Actions and researcher mobility, and the European Research Council (ERC). There will also be a session on FP7 Audits and Finance, including the latest on TRAC EC-FP7.

Another important area that will also be covered in depth at this year’s conference is the funding opportunities which will be available through the new Joint Technology Initiatives (JTIs), such as the Innovative Medicines Initiative (IMI), Aeronautics and Air Transport (Clean Sky), Embedded Computer Systems (ARTEMIS), and Nanoelectronic Technologies 2020 (ENIAC).

Other key sessions include an update on the European Research Area (ERA) review and a session looking at the Research Councils UK (RCUK) International Strategy and interaction with Europe and beyond.

In terms of other non-FP7 issues, the Conference will also cover the Lifelong Learning Programme (in particular the Erasmus Mundus Programme), DG Freedom, Justice and Security Programmes, the NATO Science for Peace and Security Programme, the COST (European Co-operation in the field of Scientific and Technical Research) programme, and the latest news on the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).

UKRO would recommend booking as soon as possible to guarantee a place, as these will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. There is a special early-bird offer available for bookings made before the 24 April 2008.For further information, please see the conference website which contains full details, including the provisional Conference programme and booking information, here: http://www.ukro.ac.uk/annual_conference/08_conference(s’ouvre dans une nouvelle fenêtre)
