Seminar - "The World in 2025"

This Seminar will first highlight the main trends up to 2025 (demography, urbanisation, macro-economic projections, education, science and culture).

24 September 2009
Austria
It will underline the tensions on natural resources and the new production-consumption patterns while attempting to identify the so-called "wild cards". Potential transitions will be evoked (multi-polar world, socio-ecology, beyond technological innovation). Finally, the next steps in European foresight and forward-looking activities will be presented by the European Commission.

This Seminar will benefit from the inputs of a European Expert Group "The World in 2025" set up by the European Commission in 2008 (cf. individual contributions available on http://ec.europa.eu/research/social-sciences/pdf/report-the-world-in-2025_en.pdf(opens in new window)) and from the reflections of several Directorates-General of the European Commission (cf. synthetic paper available on http://ec.europa.eu/research/social-sciences/pdf/the-world-in-2025-report_en.pdf(opens in new window))

Date:24 September 2009, Brussels, Charlemagne building, rue de la Loi 170 (room Sicco Mansholt)There are no fees for this Seminar. If you wish to participate, please send an email with your name and first name, organisation, address and phone number to Domenico.Rossetti-di-Valdalbero@ec.europa.eu before 14 September 2009, 17h00.
