With one of the Key Actions in the European Union's Fifth Framework Programme devoted to "Sustainable Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry", the Agricultural Development Advisory Service (ADAS) in the UK is staging the event "Growing Business in the Countryside" at Warwick on 3 and 4 March 1999.

Among the speakers is Laurent Van Depoele, who is responsible for coordinating rural development measures, Objective 1 and 5b, and relevant aspects of the New rural Development and Structural Rural measures within the European commission, DG VI. His paper is entitled "EU Policy for Rural Development beyond 2000".
