A conference on Technology Management, TM Conference '99, in St Gallen, Switzerland, on 11 and 12 February 1999, will mainly focus on cooperation for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

SMEs with a comparatively small amount of resources and competencies particularly need to cooperate in order compensate for their competitive disadvantage in relation to large enterprises. Cooperation offers them good opportunities for balanced development in turbulent business environments.

The conference will address the following issues:

- What are the essentials for cooperation?
- When does cooperation make sense?
- How to evaluate and choose partners?
- What kind of cooperation is appropriate for my business?
- What has to be done in preparation for cooperation?
- How do I control cooperation?
- How do I terminate cooperation?

The conference is organised by the Institute for Technology Management, St Gallen, Switzerland, in collaboration with the TeleFLOW project of the Telematics Engineering sector of the Telematics Application Programme.
