The ways rural and agricultural communities, especially farmers, use the Internet is the subject of a colloquium at SIMA - the Paris Agricultural Show at Villepinte on 2 March 1999.

"Why and how the agricultural community is using the Internet?" is organised by ACTA Informatique with collaboration of French Ministry of Agriculture (ENESAD-CNERTA) within the framework of the AGRIMMEDIA project (ESPRIT programme).

Papers being presented at the colloquium will show the advantages and the difficulties met, and will provide details of sites and services currently offered in France.

The contributors will be users of services developed by accounting centres, agricultural chambers, newspapers, advisory and training organisations, service providers, and so on, and eventually by exhibitors participating at the Paris show.

Special attention will be paid to e-commerce.
The situation of the green Internet in other Member States of the European Union will also be discussed.
