An information day on the "User-Friendly Information Society" will be held in Stuttgart, Germany, on 24 March 1999.

One of the programmes within the European Commission's Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration, the "User-Friendly Information Society" programme corresponds to the ESPRIT, ACTS and Multimedia programmes of FP4.

The information day will cover the following key actions within the "User Friendly Information Society" programme.

- Systems and services for the citizen;
- New methods of work and electronic commerce;
- Multimedia content and tools;
- Essential technologies and infrastructure.

Information on research and development activities of a generic nature and support for research infrastructure will also be available.
