An Internet Fiesta will be held in Bulgaria on 19 March 1999 to promote European Union (EU) online information services and databases and EU programmes supporting the deployment of the Information Society in Europe.

It is being organized by: the Applied Research and Communications Fund (ARC Fund) and the Fellow Member to the Community Innovation Relay Centres (FEMIRC - Bulgaria) with the support of the Delegation of the European Commission to Bulgaria.

A special focus will be put upon the presentation of the Information Society Technologies Programme - part of the Fifth Framework Programme (FP5) for Research, Technological Development and Demonstration (RTD). A seminar in Sofia will coincide with the launch of the Internet Fiesta. The ARC Fund and FEMIRC-Bulgaria will set up two work-stations and will provide free Internet connectivity for several hours to the seminar participants.

A special advertising campaign will be carried out during the three days of the Internet Fiesta via broadcasting through the Vitosha radio, the Express radio and the national radio "Christo Botev".

The programme of the seminar will cover the following topics:

- Presentation of online databases of the EU - CORDIS (Community Research and Development Information Service), EUROPA, EUR-Lex, EUDOR;
- Presentation of three calls: the Information Society Technologies Programme; the IST Prize¦99 and the EuroPrix¦99.

The target audience comprises representatives from SMEs, NGOs, RTOs, universities, and students.
