Anyone interested in the latest technical development concerning the next generation of interoperable Geographic Information System (GIS) is invited to attend an information day in Enschede, The Netherlands, on 19 April 1999.

The GIS Project Stimulating the Industry in Europe (GIPSIE) is an initiative funded by the European Union to improve the participation of European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the OpenGIS international process, as well as to help increase the European share in the global GIS market-place.

One of the main objectives of GIPSIE is to organise information days to stress European issues and to create a dialogue between the OpenGIS Consortium and European SMEs.

The information day is being organised by "Netherlands Society for Earth Observation and Geo-informatics" in cooperation with GIPSIE and ITC.
