Attractive and convergent R&D programmes for SMEs – the future or utopia? – Conference in Budapest - Hungary

Every SME stakeholder is aware of the importance of SMEs since they are the main engine of Europe’s economy and their continuous R&D activity might ensure that Europe catches up with its competitors. It is very important to ensure that the multiple Research, Technology Development and Innovation (RTDI) programmes of Europe meet the needs of the SMEs.

24 February 2011 - 24 February 2011
Austria
In order to support the policy makers and programme managers in designing SME friendly RTDI programmes that purports to attract both active and non active R&D SMEs an international consortium has analysed around 120 national or regional programmes with the aim of finding good practices and attractive characteristics that could be adopted in other countries. The results of the programme analysis and of the interviews and surveys on the SMEs expectations, needs and barriers will fuel the international conference of MAPEER SME that will take place on 24 February 2011, in Budapest. The conference organised by the Association of ICT companies in Hungary in cooperation with the national partners of the project will strive to provoke discussion around this topic with the active contribution of RTDI programme managers and SMEs.

The overall goal of the conference is to provide a forum for discussion were the managers and designers of RTDI programmes and SMEs can add their voice to influence the design of more SME-friendly RTDI programmes in Europe. During the event, experiences of implementing the RTDI programmes will be presented, depicting the challenges for SMEs to participate in RTDI programmes. The final aim of the event is to identify measures towards enhancement of these programmes for the benefit of SMEs.

In order to support the networking of SMEs with their European counterparts a special session will be dedicated to present project ideas to be submitted for the upcoming SME call of the 7th Framework Programme. If you are interested to present an idea please indicate when you are registering.

The conference will be followed by the third meeting of the European Experts Panel on SME (EEP-SME) and Research which will continue immediately after the conference ends. The members of the Panel work together with the MAPEER consortium in order to define the above mentioned measures and recommendations. If you are an SME or SME representative organisation and wish to become a member of EEP-SME, please contact us secretariat_sme_panel@ivsz.hu

Interested stakeholders are requested to register before the 18th February 2011 on the project website: www.mapeer-sme.eu
