City of Tomorrow holds information day
The event will start with a plenary session for all participants presenting the transition from FP4 to FP5, participation rules and general issues relating to the new Key Action. The afternoon will feature four parallel sessions each focusing on one of the four main priorities of the Key Action. Participants are kindly requested to indicate their choice of parallel session upon registration, the form for which is available at:
URL: http://cordis.europa.eu/eesd/src/k4-ev-1.htm(opens in new window)
The badges distributed will differ according to the session selected.
The four parallel sessions are the following:
- 1. Sustainable city planning and rational resource management (area 4.1);
- 2. Protection, conservation and enhancement of European cultural heritage (area 4.2);
- 3. Development and demonstration of technologies for safe, economic, clean, effective and sustainable preservation, recovery, renovation, construction, dismantling and demolition of the built environment, in particular for large groups of buildings (area 4.3);
- 4. Comparative assessment and cost effective implementation of strategies for sustainable transport systems in an urban environment (area 4.4).
The first call for proposals, launched on 20 March, and the related guide for proposers, including the work programme, will be found on the CORDIS FP5 web service:
URL: http://cordis.europa.eu/eesd/calls/calls.htm(opens in new window)
The second call for proposals is expected to be launched in October 1999.
Those who are looking for partners should complete the form entitled «request for co-operation» on the website at:
URL: http://cordis.europa.eu/eesd/src/k4-ev-1.htm(opens in new window)
Each participant may complete more than one form but it is recommended to concentrate on the main areas of interest, especially for those who already have an idea for a proposal. Completed forms must be returned by fax to the conference organizers (ICEO - see attached Practical Information form) before 14 April in order to include them in a brochure which will be distributed to all participants. On 19 April, the forms (together with those from late registrations) will be displayed on boards located around the conference rooms to facilitate discussions between interested participants.
