3rd SMART Online Training: EUROPEAN GREEN CARS INITIATIVE

On 14th of July, at 11.00 a.m. (GMT+2) the SMART project will hold an online training on the EUROPEAN GREEN CARS INITIATIVE.

14 July 2011 - 14 July 2011
Austria
AGENDA

ROADMAP OF THE EUROPEAN GREEN CARS INITIATIVE, 10 min
The future benchmarks of road transport consist in highest energy efficiency, decarbonisation of energy carriers used in transport, and an overall optimized performance of personal mobility and goods transport. Meeting these ambitious goals requires breakthrough developments in a wide variety of technology.

To ensure a competitive edge for Europe in the field of clean and energy efficient vehicles, the PPP European Green Cars Initiative (EGCI) presents this strategic multi-annual roadmap, wich is aimed at defining the research and development objectives to be achieved.

TECHNOLOGICAL ROADMAP OF THE INTERNATIONAL ENERGY AGENCY FOR ELECTRIC AND HYBRID ELECTRIC VEHICLES, 10 min
Juan Luis Pla, IDAE

The aim of this roadmap is to help quantifying the differences between conventional and new technologies in terms of the aspects of energy and resource security, climate change, public health, freedom of mobility, and economic growth, and to suggest actions that will create an impact on these. In this roadmap the focus is put on passenger cars, and the term electric vehicle (EV) means all kinds of vehicles that provide at least 50km of pure battery-electric range such as pure electric vehicles, electric vehicles equipped with a range extender, and plug-in hybrids, which may provide potential beyond the transition phase, e.g when combined with bio fuels.

GREEN CARS INITIATIVE INSTRUMENTS: PROGRAMS AND SCHEDULED CALLS, 10 min

PPP IMPLEMENTATION FOR ROAD - TRANSPORT ELECTRIFICATION: CAPIRE, an FP7 PROJECT, 10 min
Gonzalo Hennequet, Renault

The Coordination Action CAPIRE, www.capire.eu will prepare and support the realization of a Public Private Partnership (PPP) sustaining and putting into practice the European Green Cars Initiative. The results of CAPIRE shall serve as a guideline for automotive R&D and European road transport policy related to the Green Cars topic. Its activities will be focussed on two major fields: a careful consideration of options for the aims, shape, and implementation paths a PPP, and the identification of technology roadblocks and the respective research needs within FP7.
