New legal and regulatory measures for urban mobility

Several European projects within the field of sustainable mobility in cities will be presented during the European Conference "New Mobility '99" on 17 and 18 June 1999 in Dortmund, Germany.

This conference will focus on new strategies for the effective implementation of legal and regulatory measures to make mobility in cities more sustainable. Those attending the event will have the opportunity to hear about and discuss best practice from all over Europe, including innovative measures that combine legal and regulatory measures. Passenger and freight transport, as well as land use policy issues, will also be addressed.

Conference participants will also have the opportunity to visit cities in the Ruhr area to see examples of industrial heritage and structural change.

The conference is being organised by the European Commission, the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia, the City of Dortmund and the EU-funded LEDA (Legal and Regulatory Measures for Sustainable Transport in Cities) project.
