TurKey Enabling Technologies 2012, which will be held at the Ceylan InterContinental Hotel, is a highly relevant focus area for this second International Brokerage Event’s coverage regarding the Turkish research potential. The previous ICTurkey 2011 event, held in Istanbul on 27 September 2011, attracted over 215 Turkish and European delegates – as well as ministerial support and substantial media coverage. “ICTurkey provided an excellent opportunity to meet with many high quality researchers from Turkey and across Europe,” said Habin Lee from Brunel University.

Strengthening competitiveness in “Enabling and Industrial Technologies” which covers a range of sectors and applications can be considered as a milestone for Turkey, concerning its negotiation period and association with FP7. Turkey and the EU countries will benefit significantly from an international brokerage event covering these highly innovative and fast moving research areas in terms of its increase in awareness of and participation in FP7.

As well as networking opportunities, there will be the chance to explore funding sources, learn from FP7 experts about how to develop successful proposals and build consortia, exchange best practice with other research participants and capitalise on the know-how of European Commission (EC) officials.

Following a welcome address by Mr Nihat Ergün, the Turkish Minister of Science, Industry and Technology and Prof .Yücel Altunbaşak, President of TÜBİTAK, Robert Jan Smits, Director General for Research and Innovation, will present a keynote speech. In addition, there will be four themed workshops exploring technology challenges such as advanced materials, biotechnology, manufacturing & processing and space technologies.

Registration for this free event is still open and researchers and organisations from Turkey and across Europe with novel concepts in the above industries, which have significant potential and economic impact, may be eligible to attend. Attendees can register their profile and interests in advance on the event website (www.turkeyinfp7.eu/events-1) and set up one-to-one partnering meetings during the day. TurKey Enabling Technologies 2012 is the second of three international brokerage events being organised by Pera on behalf of TÜBITAK, the Scientific & Technological Research Council of Turkey as part of TurkeyinFP7, a three-year project which aims to stimulate Turkish participation in FP7.
