The European Association of Research Managers and Administrators (EARMA) annual conference on 'Best practices in research management', will focus on intellectual property (IP), and will be held in Amsterdam from 10 to 13 June 1999. The conference will cover many aspects of research management and administration including:

- Patents and patent searches;
- European training network topics, including certification;
- Model contracts for EU research and intellectual property rights;
- Successful application of equal opportunities policy.

The conference targets a diverse group of research managers and administrators from around the globe, and should also provide a valuable opportunity for networking.

In addition, there will be a series of parallel workshops at this event, including one on 'shared cost contracts', which will be presented by Dutch university members of the IRDAC/ESTA Advisory Group. This workshop is aimed in particular at advisors who assist university scientists participate in the European Commission's Fifth RTD Framework Programme.
