Presentation of the UMTS development partnership

A presentation of the UMTS Development Partnership (UDP), a consortium of leading European research and development institutes and industrial telecommunications companies founded on 1 January 1999, will take place in Brussels on 7 September 1999.
The main purpose of the consortium is the support of companies in Europe on their transition to the third generation of mobile telecommunications such as UMTS by acting as an advisor both on technical systems analysis and market-relevant know-how. The consortium, which is based in North-Rhine Westphalia in Germany, wishes to encourage small and medium-sized enterprises in particular to take profit from these new technologies, markets, products and their applications.
At the event, an overview of developments in the third generation of mobile telecommunications systems will be presented and the objectives of the UDP will be outlined.
