CONCERTO Premium Team would like to invite the EU-Press to the Journalists' Workshop on:

PART 1: Stairway to SMART CITIES & COMMUNITIES – Success stories of district construction and refurbishment projects in the CONCERTO-Initiative in the Framework of European Energy Policies
From single buildings "via" districts to urban development - steps by step to meet the energy and climate challenge

What do 58 European cities and communities in 22 projects and 23 countries have in common? They are part of the CONCERTO-Initiative striving to reach the highest possible energy efficiency standards in order to pave the way to meet the 2020 energy and climate protection targets of the EU. After almost 8 years of experience success stories have been identified. All projects are co-funded by the European Union.

“Think big” – imagine a better future with smart cities and communities as a result of the European policy framework emphasizing on the joint efforts of decision makers, urban planners, architects, manufacturers and inhabitants.
Representatives of the European Commission, several CONCERTO Project Coordinators, the Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum and the Institute for Technology Assessment and System Analysis of the KIT will show you examples of avant-garde communities throughout Europe with regard to the EU´s vision of SMART CITIES & COMMUNITIES.

Join our workshop and find out about best practices and role models in Europe, get to know people who make smart communities in Europe a reality.

PART 2:
How to visualize a vision? World premiere of a European Database for energy efficiency measures and the use of renewable energy in communities
A new tool – not for journalists only!

The overall of the joint efforts of 58 European cities and communities can not only be regarded as a sum of single transactions. Each location, town, region, country is facing specific requirements and challenges which leads into specific solutions and the mix of different technologies.

But how to find out about the energy efficiency measures in buildings or renewable energy technologies that were demonstrated in the European CONCERTO initiative? How to compare the implementation of measures within one country or with another? Try out the new European database, the tool for specialized journalists. You are interested in the use of renewable energy, a specific mix of measures or a specific country? The database offers plenty of opportunities to you…!
The Chair of Sustainable Management of Housing and Real Estate from the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) would like to introduce you to the world of monitoring and metering and local coordinators of existing CONCERTO sites will give you hands-on examples of the implementation of their data. These specialists together with representatives of the European Commission and the Steinbeis-Europa-Zentrum plus several CONCERTO Project-Coordinators will be keen to answer your questions.
