During the Flanders Technology International Fair 1993, the European Association for Technology Transfer, Innovation and Industrial Information (TII), a non-profit association, will hold a conference on new markets and opportunities for technology transfer (Ghent, 3-4 May 1993).

Though this event is not financially supported by the Commission, the keynote address, "Technology, Exploitation and the Community's Research and Technology Development Policy" will be given by Professor Paolo Fasella, Director General of the European Commission's DG XII, while the Opening Plenary Session will consist of updates on European Community programmes related to technology transfer. On the agenda:

- "Technology Transfer and the COMETT programme" to be given by Ed Prosser, Head of the COMETT Technical Assistance Office;
- "The PHARE programme and Technology Transfer with Central and Eastern Europe", by Anthony Gribben from the European Commission's DG I;
- "The SPRINT programme's contribution to Transnational Technology Transfer in Europe", presented by Robin Miege, Head of the SPRINT programme.

Parallel sessions will take place on: Transfer with Eastern Europe; Moving technology from higher education to industry; and transfer with Japan and the far East. The afternoon TII Annual General Meeting (16.30) will be open to TII Members only.

The second day of the Conference will take the form of parallel sessions covering: Environmental technologies; healthcare technologies; and microsystems technologies. The Conference will terminate with a final plenary session on making the best use of the TII network.
