An indecs conference - dedicated to the interoperability of data in e-commerce systems conference - will be held in Washington DC, USA, on 15 November 1999. This year's theme will be 'Names, numbers and networks'.

This free one-day event is a follow-up to the July conference in London where technical issues were discussed, with the aim of communicating the work of indecs to US delegates.

It is supported by the European Commission's INFO2000 programme, embracing multimedia rights clearance systems (MMRCS).

Presentations will focus on the intended launch of a permanent international consortium to oversee the development of content identifiers and associated metadata.

The organisation indecs is an international initiative of initiative rights owners seeking to develop a framework of metadata standards to support network commerce based on intellectual property.
