The Institute for International Scientific and Technological Cooperation is holding an information session on 12 November 1999 in Coimbra, Portugal, to present and discuss the second call for proposals of the 'Socio-economic knowledge base' Key Action of the Improving Human Potential programme.

The event will be accompanied by a workshop on the topic: 'Employment, knowledge and citizenship: the management of the European social model'. The workshop is part of the 'research agenda setting exercise' and its main goal is to raise questions or new topics for themes in future calls.

The first part of the session will focus on the research topics for this particular call and the submission procedure as well as on the evaluation procedures, model contracts and general recommendations.

Information on the assistance for participation in the Fifth Framework Programme available in Portugal will be provided, whilst the results from the first call for proposals will also be considered.
