Belgium
Around 1,500 top business leaders from all over Europe will be gathering in Brussels on 9 to 11 June 2000 for the European Business Summit.

The event aims to build a unique dialogue between business-oriented decision makers, and explain what the European institutions are doing to enhance synergies between European public and private sectors. Ultimately it hopes to contribute to improving growth and employment in Europe through innovation and creativity.

The summit is structured around two plenary sessions and four series of parallel sessions.

The opening plenary session will take place at the European Parliament and will be addressed by the European Parliament President, and the UNICE and FEB-VBO Presidents. The closing session will be addressed by Romano Prodi, President of the European Commission.

The parallel workshops will be built around four main themes:

- Innovation and creativity as a strategy;
- Innovation and creativity as a process;
- Creating an innovative culture within the organisation;
- The business environment around innovation and creativity.

There will also be series of social events including a special Gala evening on the Friday evening organised by Brussels 2000: "Grand Carrousel du Sablon", a real equestrian opera inspired by the formal organisation on the equestrian carrousels of the 17th and 18th centuries, accompanied by baroque music. The inaugural match of the Euro 2000 football championship will take place on the Saturday, and a golf tournament has been arranged for the Sunday.
