Although wind turbines are one of the most mature technologies for producing renewable energy, people living around wind farms have been raising concerns about the noise they produce and its impact on human health. One of the main challenges for engineers is to come up with efficient noise reduction technologies, something they have been focusing on for the past few years.
EWEA's workshop on wind turbine sound grants participants with an opportunity to better understand the key issues involved in designing noiseless wind farms, the challenges faced by the industry and they way forward. This year's topics will include human perception of sound, national guidelines on soise, real-world sound measurements, wind farm design, wind turbine design and the impact of noise curtailment on wind farm operations.
The workshop is expected to attract 150 to 200 professionals including manufacturers, project developers, risk assessors, accoustic consultancies, academics and researchers
