First ZMT Workshop on Science for Sustainability - the Contribution of Transdisciplinary Knowledge Exchange

In the face of increasing resource scarcity, growing degradation of the environment and future impacts of climate change, tackling concrete environmental issues in developing countries also critically relies on targeted and reciprocal knowledge exchange between science and non-scientific stakeholders from policy, practice, industry and commerce, and civil society.
Since this process takes place in a multidimensional and dynamic context, the obligations it raises for researchers are likewise complex, diverse, and constantly changing.
For this reason, the Leibniz Center for Tropical Marine Ecology (ZMT) is organising the "1st ZMT Workshop on Science for Sustainability - the Contribution of Transdisciplinary Knowledge Exchange" (18th - 21st January 2015) in Bremen, Germany. The objective of the workshop is to shed light on best practice approaches that could support researchers to link scientific inquiry to knowledge exchange, so that the scientific process can be more relevant to socio-ecological needs, and the information produced is publicly available and provides a basis for action.
The workshop is divided into three presentation sessions, a panel discussion, and four workshop sessions.
There is no registration fee. The maximum amount of participants is 100. Any additional registrations will be placed on a waiting list.
