Opportunities for the rail industry in the Fifth Framework Programme

An information day exploring opportunities within the Fifth Framework Programme for funding for research in the rail industry will take place in Derby, UK, on 25 January 2000.
The event will look in particular at activities covered by the Competitive and Sustainable Growth programme, mainly the Key Actions 'Sustainable mobility and intermodality' and 'Land transport and marine technologies'. Commission officials from the Research, and Transport and Energy, Directorates-General will present the areas covered by the programme. Other presentations will cover application procedures, evaluation criteria and specific opportunities for SMEs. The European Rail Trade Association (UNIFE) will give details of the take-up of European research funding by the rail industry. After the formal presentations, there will be the opportunity for participants to have one-to-one discussions on project ideas with both the speakers and other participants.
