This year, the 'Telecommunications and IT convergence enabling service E-volution' (IS&N 2000) will explore the convergence of IT and telecommunications towards advanced and sophisticated services. This, the 7th international IS&N conference, will be held in Athens, Greece, from 23 to 25 February 2000.

The conference will especially focus on trends and enabling technologies that can be used in an environment where information technology and telecommunications converge.

The conference sessions will cover:

- E-commerce;
- Developing communications efficiency through management and control;
- Architectures for multimedia communications;
- Trends in services and networks;
- Service creation techniques for software development and deployment;
- Active networks;
- Agent-based management;
- Focus on the European Commission� s Information Society and Technology (IST) programme;
- Virtual home environment;
- Integrated scalable solutions for telecommunications management.

An industrial showcase is being organised alongside the conference, aimed to provide participants with an opportunity to gain a pragmatic view of some of the achievements and products inspired by the IT and telecoms integration.

The event is being organised with the support of the European Commission. Intracom and NEC.
