GLOBAQUA course: Rapid screening of aquatic organic pollution & toxicity using bioassays & biosensors

A 2-day course will be held in Barcelona, Spain, on 25th-26th November 2015, with a focus on the development and application of biological techniques of analysis for the rapid detection of organic contaminants or their effects. This course targets PhD students, master students and post-doc researchers in the field of chemistry and environmental sciences.

25 Noviembre 2015 - 26 Noviembre 2015
Spain
The course will take place in Barcelona (Spain) on 25-26 November 2015; it is organised by the IDAEA-CSIC within the framework of GLOBAQUA (www.globaqua-project.eu) a EU FP7 project.

The focus of the course is the development and application of biological techniques of analysis for the rapid detection of organic contaminants or their effects. In this course, special attention will be devoted to immuno-analytical techniques, miniaturized and remote unmanned operating systems, as well as ecotoxicological approaches for effects evaluation of toxic mixtures.

This course targets PhD and master students in chemistry and environmental sciences and Postdoc researchers in chemistry and environmental sciences.

The topics that will be addressed are: Toxicity assays for environmental risk assessment of contaminants, Metabolomics as new trends in ecotoxicology, Immunochemical determination of environment pollutants in sea water, Immunoassays, Nanomaterials-based biosensors and applications, and biosensor platforms for descentralised and real-time environmental control. The course includes practical sessions.
