The Social Brain

The Social Brain conference will focus on how the brain implements social interactions and how these affect the brain, in humans and in animals.

5 Octubre 2014 - 8 Octubre 2014

This conference is part of a series of high-level meetings on the neurosciences in Europe. It will be held in Copenhagen, from 5 to 8 October 2014.

Co-organised by The Brain Prize and the Federation of European Neuroscience Societies (FENS, the major neuroscience association in Europe), these bi-annual conferences will bring together outstanding researchers in key broadly defined areas of contemporary neuroscience to discuss current concepts and define challenges for future research.

Topics of the conference include: development of the social brain and of social behaviour during childhood and adolescence; interrelationships between social interactions and mental health; neurobiological mechanisms of social learning and motivation; how autism spectrum disorders relate to social interactions and social learning; whether and how specific brain networks have a predominant role in social interactions; the neurobiology of selected social behaviours; the neurobiology of theory of mind, and the roles of mirror neurons; conserved molecular mechanisms for social control of learning and behaviour.
