GLOBAQUA course: The use of stable isotopes in investigations of hydrological processes and climate change

The Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) is organising a training course in Ljubljana (Slovenia) on 10-13 October 2016. The course will introduce the basic principles behind isotopic and chemical tracer modelling and is designed for researchers (master, doctoral and postdoctoral level) and other scientists interested in the use of stable isotopes and other tracers in hydrological studies.

The Jožef Stefan Institute (JSI) is organising a training course in the framework of the GLOBAQUA project (http://www.globaqua-project.eu/(se abrirá en una nueva ventana)). The course which will take place in Ljubljana on 10-13 October 2016 and will introduce the basic principles behind isotopic and chemical tracer modelling. The training course is designed for researchers (master, doctoral and postdoctoral level) and other scientists interested in the use of stable isotopes and other tracers in hydrological studies.

Of all the methods used to model hydrological processes in small watersheds, tracers (isotopic and chemical) have provided the best new insights into the age, origin and pathway of water movement. We intend to organize sampling at two sampling locations on the Sava River in Slovenia, provie training with sample preparation, and the use of Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometry (IRMS).

The fee is 150 Euros per person and will cover coffee breaks, lunches during the course and a single-course dinner on 12th October.
