Fighting forest fires

A technical and economic breakdown of the causes and effects of forest fires will be available at the forthcoming Mediterranean congress on prevention of and fight against forest fires in Teruel, Spain on 25 to 27 of October. In addition to looking at causes and prevention methods, there will be information on how to regenerate areas devastated by fire.

International experts will be attending the conference to illustrate the prevention and regeneration formulas. Free paid trips to the conference are available for representatives of many non-EU countries which border the Mediterranean which could learn from the conference. These include Morroco, Algeria, Tunisia, Egypt, Israel, Cyprus, Turkey and the Lebanon.

The conference, supported by the central and local Spanish governments, has requested the attendance of a member of the European Commission to speak at the event.

Accompanying the conference will be the FIREFOR/2000 exhibition, which will have a full display of the technical fire prevention equipment.
