CORBEL Final Open Meeting

At the final CORBEL meeting, the consortium will present their solutions for harmonising user access to the European Life Science Research Infrastructures (LS RIs), comprising topics such as access, data or quality management, training, ELSI and innovation support. Presentations by scientists from the biological and medical user communities will illustrate how concerted access to multiple RIs advanced their projects, thus demonstrating the benefit of CORBEL for European life science research.

Registration is now possible for the 4th and Final Annual General Meeting for CORBEL.

CORBEL is an EC funded initiative of thirteen Life Science Research Infrastructures (LS RIs), which together have created a platform for harmonised user access to biological and medical technologies, biological samples and data services required by cutting-edge biomedical research. The goal of CORBEL was to allow our users in the scientific community to easily access a range of advanced facilities and services from different ESFRI Biological and Medical Research Infrastructures in their research projects. We achieved this by establishing a framework for connecting services and supporting users across the LS RIs. Specifically, CORBEL delivers this by achieving three main objectives:

1) Forge effective partnerships with user communities across RIs by providing joined-up service catalogues, simplifying user access and providing of user engagement forums for feedback and future service developments.
2) Develop scalable solutions that meet user needs for complex scientific workflows by developing and operating cross-RI scientific connectors that integrate our joint capabilities into service packages for advanced users.
3) Implement a portfolio of shared services that facilitate user access to data, samples and instrumentation through common access policies and a shared resource portal, and data management solutions that enable users to manage data across infrastructure boundaries.

At the Final Open Meeting, the CORBEL consortium will give you an overview about the results, comprising topics such as access, data or quality management, training, ELSI and innovation support. Presentations by scientists from the biological and medical user communities will illustrate how concerted access to multiple RIs advanced their projects, thus demonstrating the benefit of CORBEL for European life science research. The one-day meeting will be open to European scientists from the biological and medical field, potential users of the CORBEL common services as well as other stakeholders generally interested in CORBEL and the European LS RIs. The meeting will be taking place in Florence, Italy, on the 2nd of March 2020 (9:00 - around 17:30) at the "Convitto della Calza, Piazza della Calza, 6 - 50125 Firenze, Italy".

The 1st Annual General Meeting for EOSC-Life is organised back-to-back, starting in the morning of the 3rd of March and ending in the afternoon of the 4th at the same venue. EOSC-Life is the new cluster project of the European LS RIs within the European Open Science Cloud (EOSC), aiming at creating an open collaborative space for digital biology in Europe. The 1st EOSC-Life AGM will comprise one day open to selected stakeholders and a second internal day for the consortium.
