Discovering the most innovative technologies for nearly zero energy consumption in Europe

The construction sector is the major energy consumer in Europe and the leader of CO2 emissions in the continent. That is why it is so necessary to develop innovative technologies to make a more sustainable building sector in order to create a nearly zero energy consumption environment. The REZBUILD Project, an initiative backed by the European Horizon 2020 programme, is working in the development of key advanced technologies with the aim of creating a sustainable refurbishment ecosystem.
These technologies and developments will be presented the 5th of November in the next edition of the Buildings of Nearly Zero Energy Consumption Congress (EECN, acronym in Spanish) by some of the key partners of its consortium.
Specifically, Alfonso Pescador Acero, Senior R&D Project Manager of Saint-Gobain Placo Ibérica, José Llamas, responsible for edification and infrastructure in CARTIF, and Susana Garayoa, European Projects Communication Manager from ZABALA, will take part in this event. The presentation, named as “REZBUILD. Innovative technologies for building renovation ecosystems with almost zero energy consumption in Europe”, is scheduled for the 12:50-13:50 timetable.
The EECC is the main professional meeting forum to address the current state of High Efficiency Buildings and the implications they represent for the building, construction, architecture and related services sector in Spain. Therefore it becomes a great opportunity for the REZBUILD Project to inform about its latest advances.
The seventh edition of the event will be celebrated simultaneously in a virtual way and in a face-to-face format in Madrid. This year’s main catchword is “The decarbonization of the Building, a lever to reactivate the sector: New Construction and Rehabilitation”.
Started in 2017, the REZBUILD Project’s main goal is to develop a refurbishment ecosystem based on the integration of cost-effective technologies, business models and life cycle interaction for a deep Near Zero Energy Building (NZEB) renovation to diverse residential renovation typologies and interconnecting both building renovation stages and stakeholders.
The initiative is driven by a consortium led by Officinae Verdi Group (Italy). The project is also integrated by Vias y Construcciones (Spain), MAETRICS (Italy), CARTIF (Spain), ESTIA (France), Comunidad de Madrid (Spain), Saint-Gobain Placo Iberica (Spain), ONYX Solar (Spain), SINTEF (Norway), OBOS (Norway), University of Nottingham (United Kingdom), Rimond (Italy) and ZABALA (Spain).
