International cooperation in science and technology is an important part of addressing major global issues like climate change, infectious disease, food security, and natural disasters. Research Infrastructures are organisations providing state-of-the-art resources, services and expertise to scientists. The RI-VIS project unites research infrastructures across scientific domains in order to work together more efficiently and effectively and increase their visibility in society at large.

Research Infrastructures provide such coordination by offering access to key facilities, resources and expertise to empower research driven by scientific excellence and beyond the individual research capacity of different countries, economic sectors, or institutions.

The Latin America-Europe Symposium on Research Infrastructures, organised by RI-VIS and EU-LAC ResInfra, will bring together delegates from Latin American and European research infrastructures.

We also invite representatives from funding agencies as well as policy makers to join and discuss opportunities for working together. By bringing together the right people we hope to create collaborations and initiate networks in a sustainable way so that all stakeholders benefit

The RI-VIS and EU-LAC ResInfra projects share common goals to build sustainable partnerships in research infrastructure between Europe and Latin America and the Caribbean.

In anticipation of the upcoming event, a White Paper 'Recommendations towards cooperation between Latin American and European research infrastructures' has been published, collating the insights of experts from Latin American RIs, European RIs, and policymakers - https://zenodo.org/record/4544374. Key findings from the white paper will be discussed at the symposium.

The symposium will be taking place in an online format, using the Whova event platform, to embrace a broader audience, excellent speakers and panellists and more participants from across Latin America, Europe and the rest of the world.
