13 September 2000 - 13 September 2000

'No Marking, No Selling?' the European organisation for conformity assessment's (EOTC), second Marking 2000 workshop will be held in Brussels on the 13 and 14 September 2000. This 'critical issues' workshop follows on from the success of the EOTC Marking Workshop held in March 1999 and the later marking discussion forum.

The EOTC Marking Discussion Forum was established after the 1999 EOTC Marking Workshop. This group, working via an Internet discussion forum, involved commentary from over 150 people in 29 countries, and leading to a report.

The purpose of this one and a half-day workshop is to consider the working group's report, the current highly varied world and European situation with regard to conformity assessment, and to highlight the most serious issues raised. Some of the topics and issues to be explored at the workshop include:

- scene setting;
- world-wide discussions on marking;
- CE marking
- E-Marking Situation Report;
- alternatives and developments;
