CARISMA-Transport Forum: Making the Connection
The one-day conference marks the end of the CARISMA-Transport project that has spent the last few years researching the infrastructural and technical requirements for the successful integration of national with local and regional transport networks. The project is funded under the European Commission's Fourth Framework programme.
As well as considering the project results, the conference will examine some of the barriers that can hinder modal interconnection, and how these barriers can be overcome. A representative from the European Commission will show how EU policy developments might assist local authority planners and operators undertaking intermodal transport projects in the future.
The topics under discussion will include:
- planning, design and location of long-distance and local or regional network interchanges;
- the role of telematics in the interconnection of transport operations, management and services;
- legal and institutional issues in the improvement of transport network interconnection.
The Forum is aimed at policy planners, local authority managers, academics, technical specialists and transport operators and attendance is free of charge.
