Can the good ecological status of aquatic systems in Europe be achieved?
The course has been opened this Tuesday by the General Director of URA, Ernesto Martínez de Cabredo. Over these days, 10 speakers from 8 countries will debate what the approval of the Water Framework Directive in 2000 and its implementation over these 17 years has meant to the improvement of rivers, estuaries and coasts. To do so, the course has been divided into three parts: the lessons that have been learnt by Europe and its institutions; what has been learnt from the countries and environmental agencies and what has been learnt through science. The idea is for the conclusions of the debate to be used in the updating of this Directive, which is planned for 2018.
