26 July 2000 - 26 July 2000

This year, the North American business information conference (NABIC 2000) will be held in New York, USA, from 29 to 31 October. Now in its fifth year, the event aims to help business leaders realise the benefits offered by information and knowledge management systems in meeting the challenges of growth in the new economy.

The conference programme aims to provide insights from business leaders, entrepreneurs and senior information and knowledge management practitioners on the future of the new economy, the growing importance of the new information markets, and how e-content adds value to business process and strengthens customer relationships.

In the opening sessions Robert Thomson, editor of the Financial Times in North America will set the scene by questioning the dynamics of the new economy. Sharon Rowlands, chief operating officer at Thomson Financial and Dan Zottoli, president of the Spencer Trask Internet group will explore global and financial views of the new information market.

Phil Lynch, chief operating officer at Reuters, North America will examine licensing e-content to add value for customers in e-business, and Donal Smith, chief executive, eCountries.com will consider the importance of web technologies as the information providers of the future. The conference will close with a summary of the information sector and it's future from Thomas Wendel, chief executive officer of Bridge Information Systems.

Speakers and delegates will be encouraged to share experiences and discuss ideas with colleagues during the practical sessions, which will include workshops, panel discussions and closed round table debates.
