Gene technology forum 2000
Estonia is collecting data that can be used as raw material for exploring new candidate genes and launching effective individualised medicines. Estonia's Genome Heredity Project aims to gather health data on the genes of more than 1 million Estonian inhabitants.
The event will therefore address the following issues:
- population-based health databases in genome studies--technical, legal, ethical and financial aspects;
- gene technology in Baltoscandia--ongoing scientific projects and investment opportunities;
- bioinformatics-problems and solutions coping with rapidly growing volume of data;
- gene technology start-up companies--lessons learnt in investment and management.
According to the organisers, the event will be of most relevance to scientists, investors, managers and politicians.
