A workshop focusing on innovative ideas on Java compiler construction is to be held in Genova, Italy on 1 April 2001 as part of the JOSES project, a part of the Fourth Framework Programme. Papers for the workshop are invited before 21 January 2001.

With the rising application of the Java programming language, the demand for powerful Java compilers is growing rapidly in all sectors of industry, in particular in the field of embedded systems. However, to produce efficient Java code for these systems, many problems in compiler construction have to be addressed.
