Training strategies for SMEs
With the sponsorship of the European Centre for the Development of Vocational Training (CEDEFOP) a seminar on "New models and training strategies for SMEs in Europe" will take place in Valencia on 3-4 October 1993.
SMEs are becoming increasingly aware of the decisive importance of training in the context of the struggle to improve competitivity. Training not only advances the qualifications of human resources, but also leads to increased productivity, higher quality products and services, and, finally, consolidation and growth.
Training within enterprises meets a series of conditions that favour or hinder its development. These conditions, illustrated by a series of concrete experiences, have been compiled and documented by 14 experts from several European countries. Their reports consider particular cases of enterprises which stand out by reason of innovation or success (CEDEFOP will publish this work shortly under the title "SME training access difficulties").
Aiming to disseminate the results and conclusions of this analysis, the two-day seminar will present strategies and training examples for SMEs in the 12 Member States. Presentations will be followed by debate, and the event will close with a summary of conclusions and recommendations for training action.
