Germany
The EC programme for the establishment of an internal information services market, IMPACT 2 (1991-1995), will hold a Fourth Information Day on 6 October 1993 during the Frankfurt Book Fair. As 1993 marks the mid-term stage of the programme, the Information Day will provide a timely occasion for dissemination of the latest information on IMPACT's progress and activities. An "IMPACT-CONTACT" Forum is also planned for the same date.

In view of the increasing role of computerized information services in the publishing sector, the Frankfurt Book Fair will include for the first time a separate exhibition area featuring electronic publishing. Appropriately, the IMPACT Information Day programme opens with a presentation of new opportunities for publishers in the electronic information market. This will include the findings of a recent strategic study carried out on behalf of the Commission of the European Communities in close cooperation with the publishing industry.

INFO EURO ACCESS, the central theme of the IMPACT 2 programme, will be dealt with in an update on actions addressing the improvement of information accessibility in Europe. Strategic information initiatives undertaken in conjunction with industry will be discussed and a number of industry contractors will report on the status of the Community-supported projects in which they are involved.

In response to requests from participants in previous Information Days, a contact event is also planned for the morning of 6 October (10.00-13.00). This will offer individuals or organizations in the electronic information services market throughout Europe the opportunity to meet and discuss possibilities of cooperation with potential partners. Interested parties may specify beforehand their areas of activity and their interests concerning meetings, enabling IMPACT to "match" requirements and to schedule informal encounters.

The IMPACT Information Day will take place in Hall Nine of the Book Fair from 14.00 to 18.00. Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English, French and German.
