The future of heritage - event
The event is being organised by the Fraunhofer Institute for Computer Graphics in Rostock, Germany, with support from the FP6 Information Society Technologies (IST) programme. It aims to consult policy makers and experts on cultural heritage research themes and priorities under the Sixth Framework programme and discuss ideas for the future development of this field of research.
The key theme of the workshop will be the concept of Intelligent cultural heritage, which aims to incorporate new advances in technology into the experience and preservation of cultural heritage. The workshop will be attended by representatives from projects which use such technology to allow a more 'intelligent' approach to cultural heritage research, for example through the use of virtual imaging and location-aware computers. The concept of an 'ambient intelligence landscape' - a form of ubiquitous, hidden intelligence which allows humans to interact with their environment - will also be under discussion.
Participation in the workshop is limited to those who have contributed in advance. For further information please contact:
