Following the recent publication of calls for proposals creating opportunities for newly associated countries in the Fifth Framework programme (FP5), a conference supported by FP5's INCO programme will be held in Warsaw, Poland on 29 and 30 November to promote these openings.

Around 200 participants from Poland and other candidate countries are expected to participate in the conference, which is being organised by the Polish national contact point (NCP).

The main objectives of the conference are to:
- promote the new opportunities for newly associated States (NAS) under FP5, including centres of excellence, the opening up of ongoing projects and a new type of fellowship;
- assist in the preparation of new proposals in which the NAS will be participating;
- provide information on existing research networks, projects and cooperation in those areas covered by FP5's thematic programmes.
- offer participants the chance to talk to European experts
- improve the visibility of teams from candidate countries and support their integration into European networks and projects;
- increase the number of applications from candidate countries as well as their success rate when responding to calls.

In addition to plenary sessions and parallel sessions, the conference will include a brokerage event and a training workshop focusing on preparation of centres of excellence projects. Presentations will be made by representatives from the European Commission as well as project and network coordinators.For further information, please consult the following web address:
