Biosafety and microbial ecology (BRIDGE, BIOTECH)

A sectorial BRIDGE meeting on Biosafety and a BIOTECH meeting on Microbial Ecology will be held together in Granada, Spain, on 24-27 October 1993.
The BRIDGE programme (Biotechnology Research for Innovation, Development and Growth in Europe) is a Community RTD programme in the field of biotechnology (1990-1994). Current BRIDGE contracts concerning biosafety projects are due to end in October of this year. Hence the Biosafety event will be the final meeting for contractors within the programme.
At the same time, BIOTECH, the specific programme in the field of biotechnology within the Third Framework Programme (1990-1994) supports a number of projects concerning the ecological implications of biotechnology. These are producing their preliminary results, and a mid-term meeting on Microbial Ecology and Ecology in the Rhizosphere is scheduled to take place in conjunction with the BRIDGE meeting.
The combination of the two events will offer an opportunity for meetings between the contractors of the two programmes, and enable them to review and discuss transnational work achieved to-date in biosafety and microbial ecology.
